I was an okay public speaker, looking to find some tips to help me become a better, more confident speaker, when I joined what was then called The Penguin Club (now Speaking Made Easy).
From the first meeting I attended, I knew I had found a supportive and wise group of women who could guide and encourage me to become a better public speaker.
Learning in a new small group format, with regular meetings, offers plenty of opportunities for women to develop their confidence speaking to a group, which starts to open up more opportunities outside of Speaking Made Easy.
I have been able to use my improved skills to speak with confidence at conferences in Australia and US, develop and deliver workshops and take on leadership roles in professional associations and work.
In recent years, I have enjoyed sharing the speaking tips that I have learnt over the years to help a group of young women to develop everyday communication skills for meetings, presentations, interviews, training and networking.
It has been great to see their skills improve and to hear how they have been able to use their confidence in public speaking to get their dream job, develop their own business and build their reputation from speaking up at work and saying yes to speaking at conferences.
