Tasmania - Launceston Group

Meets in a riverside city  location of Tasmania

The Plough Inn, 170 Brisbane St

Launceston

3rd Thursday of the month Feb – Nov

6:15 pm

We are:

A  welcoming  group of women who are students and/or working and retired and interested in developing our own personal, work and public communication skills.

Women from non-English speaking backgrounds are very welcome.

We are part of the longest running Women’s speaking group in Australia which has provided a springboard for our members to positions on Boards, local and state government, as well being confident in their careers, volunteering and community.  Lifelong friendships and fun are a bonus.

 We offer:

A one-hour evening meeting,  followed by a meal together (meal optional).

Our group meeting is run to an agenda which allows women to develop at their own pace.  The varied learning experiences, include workshops and joining with other groups at statewide training;  support to gain confidence and skills in speaking to groups; effectively facilitating or chairing meetings and making formal speeches and presentations. Activities are tailored to individual need and goals, and  include book reviews, formal speeches, chairing meetings, debating, storytelling, and much more.

We aim to:

Provide a rich, supportive  environment suited to students and women returning to work to enable them to communicate confidence and practise presentations and interview skills.  We enable stimulating and rewarding lifelong learning and mutual support for all our members from ages 15  years upwards.
